Artmetria
Intelligence

Artmetria is building an intelligence system specifically for art: one shared layer beneath Eye and Market, made of a corpus of works and market records, structured knowledge that keeps its sources, and analysis that states its evidence and its uncertainty.

It is not a product, and it is not for sale. Eye and Market are its two expressions: the same material, the same discipline, read for two different kinds of work. This page says what the layer is built from, what it does, where it reaches you, and where it stops.

Two expressions

Eye — develop and explore your relationship with art.

Market — understand and analyse the art market.

What it is built from

Data, then knowledge.

Three kinds of material, each kept with its origin. A record is only as useful as what can be checked about it, so the layer prefers a source that can be opened to a figure that cannot.

I

Works

A corpus of works held in public museum collections, with their images — close to a million, from institutions whose own records can be checked at source. Chosen for what can be verified, not for volume, and still growing.

II

Market records

Auction results from the international and regional houses Artmetria follows, brought onto a common footing so that currencies, dates and units can be set beside one another. Coverage is stated with each reading, never assumed.

III

Structured knowledge

Artists, works, institutions and sales, recorded so that every assertion keeps its source, its date and its rights, and can be contested rather than merely believed. The record is built under rules published before it.

Coverage is stated where it matters, on the reading it concerns. How coverage is stated →

What it does

Knowledge, then intelligence.

Five operations run over the same material. None of them produces a verdict. Each returns something a person can examine, with what it rests on attached.

  1. 01

    Visual understanding

Every work with an image is represented so that visual neighbours can be found and a work you have just met can be set beside others. Visual similarity is a relation, never an attribution.

  2. 02

    Retrieval and context

Given an object, a question or a taste, the layer finds what is related — comparable records, adjacent works, the context around an artist — and returns it with what it rests on.

  3. 03

    Reading and analysis

A work can be read (the Reading Room), a lot can be examined against its record (Market), and a market can be read as a whole (the Index). The Index's qualitative framework, C1–C10, is one instrument inside this layer, not the layer itself.

  4. 04

    Evidence and abstention

Every result carries how much stands behind it: recorded fact, derived value and hypothesis kept apart, coverage and confidence stated. Where the record is too thin, the answer is "insufficient evidence", and saying so is never a defect.

  5. 05

    Memory

What you looked at, followed and kept in Eye; the cases, decisions and outcomes you record in Market. Each product keeps its own memory, and neither transfers it silently to the other.

The disciplines are disclosed; the weights, the prompts and the thresholds are not. Naming what the system relies on is what makes a reading inspectable; publishing how it is built would not make it more so.

Where it reaches you

One layer, two rooms.

Eye · the personal gallery

A companion for developing and exploring your relationship with art. Something to discover each day, a work you can read where you meet it, what you saw and what you kept, and a sense of your own looking that stays yours to correct.

Eye draws on the corpus, the Reading Room and its own memory of your looking. It shows no prices, estimates or market signals: that is Market's work, and the boundary is a design, not a limit.

Discover Eye

Market · the research room

An instrument for understanding and analysing the art market. An object read against the record, the evidence behind it with its source and date, a comparable set you can argue with, a case you build and can hand to someone else.

Market draws on the market records, the structured knowledge and the Index — its own instrument for reading a market as a whole. Market calls no generative model on its workflow: what it shows is the record, examined.

Models, and where they sit

Components, not the point.

Artmetria trains no frontier model of its own. Where a task genuinely calls for a language or vision model — reading a work in the Reading Room, or the qualitative pass inside the Index — Artmetria uses external models as components inside its own pipelines, under its own constraints: what a model may say, what it may never assert, and checks before anything reaches you.

Where a task needs no model, none is used. Your Aesthetic Profile is built from your own choices and gestures, not inferred by a model; Market's workflow, from search to case, calls no generative model at all. The intelligence is in the material, the structure and the discipline, not in the size of any one component.

How Artmetria uses AI →

Where it stops

A layer, and only that.

Not a product

It is not sold, and it is not a third pillar beside Eye and Market.

Not a single score

No number stands in for the layer, and no reading is reduced to one.

Not a chatbot on a database

It answers through structured surfaces, with sources attached, not through fluent prose.

Not autonomous expertise

It does not authenticate, attribute, value or advise. It informs the judgement of the person using it.

What Artmetria knows, what it infers and what remains uncertain are kept visibly separate in every reading, in Eye and in Market. That distinction is not a disclaimer. It is how the layer is built.

Read the method

Built on evidence.
Guided by human judgment.
